ABOUT THE PROCESS:
RECYCLED SUNGLASSES
Sunglasses made from Sunglasses; what's not to love? Shade Files inspects the Szade recycled process below, showing how we can all work together to help break the cycle of fast, disposable fashion, one pair of sunglasses at a time!

1.
Discarded, broken and obsolete sunglasses that were destined for landfill are collected.
2.
The Szade team then breaks the collected sunnies into thousands of tiny pieces.
3.
These little pieces are then polished and formed into pea-size pellets.
4.
The pellets are then coloured and moulded into a new pair of recycled sunnies.
5.
The sunnies are then polished one by one ; no robots here!
6.
Szades are then packed into their cases and are ready to wear.
7.
The frames are 100% recyclable which means that we can reduce the material waste to almost 0.

Imagine trying to create a perfect unique look but lacking options. This was the problem Charlie Lindström identified when working as a stylist.
Together with his childhood friend Daniel Djurdjevic they started Chimi Eyewear, a Stockholm based eyewear company.

SUN BUDDIES
Sun Buddies is a premium eyewear line from the Swedish based fashion brand and retailer; Très Bien.
The original frame takes inspiration from the sunglasses worn by actress Bibi Andersson in Ingmar Bergman’s 1966 film, Persona.
Collaborations with designers, photographers and artists are essential and the name ‘Sun Buddies’ is a homage to these friends and creatives.
